Meet the Filmmaker: Phillip Kirks, “The Letter”

“The Letter”

EFP: Why did you become a filmmaker?

PK: I became a filmmaker because I have always had a strong passion for telling stories, and having the ability to create stories where people could go for two hours or a few minutes to get away from the rigers of daily life.

EFP: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?

PK: “The Letter” is a suspense thriller about an odd letter that was recieved and only females can decipher what it says. I do believe it screened at Blissfest last year, and we have had it on Amazon.com for a while now.

EFP: What else are you working on?

PK: I am currently working on a web series, several short films and writing 2 feature scripts.

EFP: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?

PK: I can normally shot a movie in about a day and have it edited within the next day.

EFP: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?

PK: Tire Swing Pictures has a facebook page, which has links to my youtube channel.

EFP: Is there anything you’d like to say about The Emerging Filmmakers Project?

PK: This is a great venue and a wonderful project where aspiring filmmakers can come screen their work and get feedback from fellow moviemakers on ways to enhance their movies.

“The Letter” will be screening at the August 2016 Emerging Filmmaker’s Project at the Bug Theatre.
