Q: Why did you become a filmmaker?
EF: I believe that the cinema is the most complex art form because of the ability to work with innumerable variety. I have a background in painting and music, so movie making seemed like a natural fit, as it combines visual art with music.
Q: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?
EF: The Fire Within is homage to the film noir genre. I sent the film to Cannes, and it was rejected, but I wouldn’t fit into the glamour scene there anyway.
Q: What else are you working on?
EF: I am working on starting a new film program in a middle school. I am also working on my second feature length animation titled The Eternal City. I just finished a book about movies called A Cinematic Experience, which can be found on amazon.
Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?
EF: A couple years ago, I made a feature length animation, and I was the sole creator. With the exception of the voice-over work, I drew and edited the entire piece. It took two years to make. It is called Blood Trail.
Q: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?
Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about The Emerging Filmmakers Project?
EF: The first time I showed a picture here was in 2003. I am glad to take part in the event once again!
The Fire Within will screen September 18th at The Emerging Filmmakers Project.
