EFP Filmmaker Interview with John Hartman

John Hartman is both a regular and a favorite at The Emerging Filmmaker’s Project.  Both his films and his hugs are legendary… you can see why that is for yourself by attending the October EFP on Thursday, October 17th.

Eileen recently sat down to chat with John about his film Petrified and all things (reel groovy) film.

EA: Why did you become a filmmaker?

JH: I became a filmmaker because it’s the best way I know of to create an alternate artistic reality — that lives outside my head.

EA: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?

JH: “Petrified” has screened in Broomfield and The Reel Fest, out of Boston. My plans are undetermined.

EA: What else are you working on?

JH: I am also working on several other super 8 films: “Gothenstein,” “Kung Fu Sisters,” Kung Fu Hippie,” and “Dolls of the Damned.”

EA: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?

JH: One weird thing about me: Yes please. One weird thing about my films is: Yes, pretty please. Tee Hee.

EA: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?

JH: reelgroovyfilms.com

EA: Is there anything you’d like to say about The Emerging Filmmakers Project?

JH: The EFP is very accommodating in that a venue is provided that caters to works that might not otherwise be seen, and live feedback is encouraged, and sometimes it’s even honest.

EA: Thanks for taking the time to talk with me John!  And to everyone else: get yourself down to The Bug Theatre on Thursday 10/17 to see Petrified and all the other great films in the October EFP!

Petrified will screen October 17th at The Emerging Filmmakers Project.
