Q: Why did you become a filmmaker?
KB: I’ve always been hyper creative and always needed an outlet for that. Filmmaking is such a unique marriage of such a wide range of creative skills and elements, I knew that I would always be challenged and continuously learning. I love the variety of my day to day and the kinds of projects I get to be apart of, on top of which I truly believe in the power of moving image as a way of capturing the human experience.
Q: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?
KB: Footprints is actually the third film in a trilogy of short experiment films called EXPOSED, which explore different concepts of spirituality. The other two films have screened at a number of festivals but this is the first time Footprints is being screened!
Q: What else are you working on?
KB: I started a production company with a business partner earlier this year called Siren Vid so we are working on a number of projects. We mostly do promotional videos for small businesses with a strong interest in the outdoors, socially conscious businesses, and female driven businesses. We’d also like to get into docs and fiction films in the future!
Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?
KB: I feature in my EXPOSED trilogy because I couldn’t find anyone else who was willing to walk barefoot through the snow, get into the arctic ocean in a dress, and walk around naked in the woods. I guess that makes me pretty weird.
Q: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?
KB: You can check out my personal vimeo page (https://vimeo.com/user8409171) and my company’s website (http://sirenvid.com).
Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about The Emerging Filmmakers Project?
KB: I think this is a great platform for upcoming filmmakers to show their work and a great way for the film community in Colorado to come together!
Footprints will screen September 18th at The Emerging Filmmakers Project.
