Meet the Filmmaker: Peter Deak, “Losing Myself Music Video”

“Losing Myself Music Video”

Cameraman10bQ: Why did you become a filmmaker?

PD: Since I was a child I’ve had a love of images, both still and motion. Just always fascinated me. So as a kid I picked up and played with my dad’s still cameras and film camera quite a bit.

Q: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?

PD: I’ll be showing Losing Myself, a zombie themed music video for musician Luka Keck, which is very much a narrative type short. It screened in February at George Climer’s My Bloody Violent-tine Film Fest. It’s a promotional piece for Luka and is on her YouTube channel so this is probably the last public screening.

Q: What else are you working on?

PD: Luka and I are starting to plan another music video for her. I’ll also be acting as a DP on a short film that will be shooting this May/June.

Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?

PD: I have webbed toes. Just kidding. Well I don’t know if this is weird but my last name is actually pronounced D-EH-AACK. It’s Hungarian. I’m first generation. It’s almost impossible to get anyone to pronounce it right in America so I gave up long ago and just day D-EE-K.

Q: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?

PD: I have a news page on my website at www.lightskyvideography.com and/or people can “Like” my company Facebook page, and see updates, at www.facebook.com/LightskyVideography.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about The Emerging Filmmakers Project?

PD: I’m just so thrilled that there is a venue like this where filmmakers can showcase their work and interact with other filmmakers as well as viewers who are interested in the process.

“Losing Myself Music Video” will be screening on March 17th at the Emerging Filmmaker’s Project.
