Q: Why did you become a filmmaker?
BRS: Mulholland Drive.
Q: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?
BRS: “The Rabbi’s Toast” my thesis film from the University of Denver. It screened at the DU InShort student film showcase.
Q: What else are you working on?
BRS: I am adapting the short story “Marigolds” by Eugenia Collier into a short film to be completed later this year. In addition, Dave and I are in the process of founding our own production company, Hidden Woods Media, that will begin by specializing in promotional web video and commercials but will hopefully move into narrative production.
In addition, my second detective novel based on the life of Roy Rogers, entitled “Who Stuffed Trigger?” is due out later this year.
Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?
BRS: The taco truck in the film had to leave before we had planned to finish shooting. They could not run the truck or run a generator (due to the audio issues that would create) and thus their fridge was not running and they were concerned that their food was going to go bad.
Q: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?
BRS: Hidden Woods Media is the name of my production company and hiddenwoodsmedia.com will be up in March. My picture can also be found on post office bulletin boards nationwide.
The Rabbi’s Toast will screen February 19th at The Emerging Filmmakers Project.
