Q: Why did you become a filmmaker?
NS: I became a filmmaker because of my love for images, for people, and of course, for storytelling.
Q: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?
NS: I HATE COFFEE MAKERS is a short film my friends and I made just for fun. The film is actually based off of an event that took place with myself and my girlfriend not too long ago. I attempted to surprise her with a cup of coffee in the morning and it failed miserably. She joked about recreating the event in a short film and I told her I would make it. The funny thing… she didn’t know I was serious. I surprised her with this short film on her birthday and she loved it. This film hasn’t been screened anywhere else.
Q: What else are you working on?
NS: I’m in the process of writing a short western/drama that follows the broken relationship of a mother and her daughter. I’m making the film for my Production II class at the University of Colorado Denver and it’ll be done in May.
Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?
NS: One weird thing that I’ll do is that when I’m writing dialogue between two or more people in a screenplay, I’ll read the scene out loud to myself and give each character a distinct voice. I think my girlfriend has witnessed me having these “conversations” with myself sometimes and she probably thinks its weird.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about The Emerging Filmmakers Project?
NS: I’d like to thank the Emerging Filmmakers Project for excepting my film and for having an event where filmmakers can network. There aren’t too many places in Denver that put on an event like this and I’m really excited to be apart of it.
