Meet the Filmmaker: Michael T. Scott, “Gregory Goat: Angry M.D.”

Q: Why did you become a filmmaker?
MS: Why does anyone? To meet gaffers.

Q: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?
MS: Gregory Goat: Angry M.D.: A doctor with no patience for his patients. It’s only screened in anger management support groups, but never to an audience lacking rage issues.

Q: What else are you working on?
MS: Events! On Oct. 13th at Mutiny Information Cafe we’ll be screening The Dumbest Shit I Ever Saw, a FREE animation anti-festival featuring some of the baddest, dumbest, sickest, and nonsensical animated shorts… Also, Nov. 11th at GRACe (Global Riverfront Art Center) we’re starting an event for the art community called Take Art/Leave Art (TALA). It’ll be part of a tri-event with DINK’s Colorado Showcase 2 and Draw Off!

Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?
MS: When I write a script I steer clear of multi-syllable words.

Q: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?
MS: Just come up to me and ask. I’m very approachable and will direct you to where you can find more of my material as well as inform on your top 6 lucky numbers for the day.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about The Emerging Filmmakers Project?
MS: Thanks for looking past my criminal record and allowing my work to be shown!

Gregory Goat: Angry M.D. will screen at The Emerging Filmmakers Project on Thursday, August 17th at The Bug Theatre.

Modern_MarriageQ: Why did you become a filmmaker?

MS: The market for shiftless layabouts dried up in the mid-2000’s, so I had to come up with something that would seem about the same speed.

Q: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?

MS: A Modern Marriage is an animated short that’s about a couple celebrating their first wedding anniversary. They quickly find out they really don’t know each other as well s they thought they did. As far as plans go: I want it to speak to the world in such a way that it brings about peace and healing. So far that hasn’t happened.

Q: What else are you working on?

MS: In between meals I’m working on The Denver Nickel & Dime Animation Extravaganza, a program made specifically for the Denver area that will feature animation from around the globe and the talented artists that created them. No, really. Expect that in Spring 2017.

Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?

MS: Neither I or my material are funded by special interest groups. I think that should be on the minds of voters when they go to the polls this next election. #VoteMe

Q: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?

MS: Their local library or clergyman. Or www.happyfattiestoons.com.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about The Emerging Filmmakers Project?

MS: Whenever I attend an EFP event I know I’m going to be treated with respect and love that my family just doesn’t provide me with at home.

Meet the Filmmaker: Michael T. Scott, “Social Assassin”, “A Game of Numbers”

IMG_1592Social Assassin, A Game of Numberswww.happyfattiestoons.com

Q: Why did you become a filmmaker?

MS: As a Devry University dropout, my options were limited to making cartoons or delivering pizzas. Making cartoons puts less wear and tear on my car.

Q: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?

MS: You’ll see a wide array of material based on real-world pain and suffering. Shoving hard-hitting life issues right into the face of a fearful society. Either that or something about a religious zombie as well as birds talking about crapping on things. The plan is always to get the material out to the people and create mirth and merriment. Because the EFP is the bravest, most daring venue around, this is the first time this material has been publicly screened (at least to my knowledge).

Q: What else are you working on?

MS: My laundry. Pertaining to material: There’s always some kind of fun topic that’s bubbling in my stomach and then vomited onto the internet. I’ve also been working on a series of cartoons for pre-schoolers under the name “Applelanche.” No, seriously. Look it up.

Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?

MS: I’m my own unpaid intern.

Q: Where can people go to find out more about you and your work?

MS: Oh man! Everywhere! Look under your seat right now! If there’s not an envelope filled with my material underneath your seat, you can always find Happy Fatties and Applelanche cartoons all over the internet. To save you time and from questionable material found on Google from typing in the word ‘fatties,’ you can just go here: www.happyfattiestoons.com.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about The Emmerging Filmmakers Project?

MS: They have the best Chinese buffet in town!

A Game of Numbers will screen January 15th at 8:00 p.m. and Social Assassins will screen January 16th at 9:00 p.m. during EFPalooza 2015 at The Bug Theatre.

January 2015 Lineup: EFPalooza Film Festival!

The 2015 EFPalooza is a three-day film festival celebrating local independent film as The Emerging Filmmakers Project draws close to screening it’s 100BEST-OF-EFP (1)0th film since it began in 2002. The event will showcase the work of more than 40 local filmmakers, featuring favorites from the last 12 years as well as several EFP premieres.

Filmmakers will be in attendance to take part in a spirited ‘talkback’ with the audience. Hosted by The Emerging Filmmaker’s Project and The Bug Theatre, all proceeds from the event will go towards a great cause – improving the Bug Theatre, an incredible venue and a staple of the Denver independent film community.
