Meet the Filmmaker: Nancy Fingerhood, “CJ’s”

Q: Why did you become a filmmaker?
NF: I have the urge to tell stories and share my sense of humor.

Q: What are we going to see at EFPalooza? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?
NF: We are seeing a spoof commercial called CJ’s. It has screened at the Never Sad Always Happy Comedy Bop in Brooklyn.

Q: What else are you working on?
NF: I just finished acting in a local series called It’s So Brighton and I am working on a dramatic script.

Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?
NF: Some call me the spoof queen because I make a lot of spoof commercials.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about EFPalooza or The Emerging Filmmakers Project?
NF: I am excited to be part of the festival and appreciate this opportunity.

CJ’s will screen Friday, February 22nd at 7:00 p.m. at The Bug Theatre as part of the Comedy Shorts block during the 2019 EFPalooza Film Festival.

Meet the Filmmaker: Nancy Fingerhood, “Mile High Nancy Episode 6: Mom Jeans and Comedy Dreams”

Q: Why did you become a filmmaker?
NF: I enjoy seeing my stories come to life and the creative process of brainstorming with others.

Q: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?
NF: It is the sixth episode of the web series Mile High Nancy. This is the first screening. It will be on the US Weed Channel.

Q: What else are you working on?
NF: I just wrapped up acting and casting for a new web series called It’s So Brighton.

Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?
NF: One of my actors does an amazing job as a rapper.

Meet the Filmmaker: Nancy Fingerhood, “Dicks Anonymous”

Q: Why did you become a filmmaker?
NF: I have been creating stories since I was 7 years old and it’s exciting to see them come alive.

Q: What are we going to see at the Denver Animated Pixelshow? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?
NF: We are going to see a short comedy called Dicks Anonymous about group therapy for damaged penises. It is up on YouTube and Vimeo.

Q: What else are you working on?
NF: I just put out episode 5 of Mile High Nancy and starting to write episode six.

Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?
NF: I think the idea of a group of dicks in therapy epitomizes the word weird.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about Denver Animated Pixelshow and The Emerging Filmmakers Project?
NF: This is my first time in the Animated Pixelshow and I’m so glad to be a part of it. I love seeing the creativity presented by all the filmmakers at the EFP.

Dicks Anonymous will screen during the 8:00pm block at the 2017 Denver Animated Pixelshow on Sunday, October 15th at The Bug Theatre.

NF: Muff Mints, a spoof commercial.  It has not been screened before.

NF: I just wrapped episode four of my web series Mile High Nancy

NF: I think there’s a lot of weird things about my films.  I try to capture the perspective of middle aged women.  Sometimes my stuff can offend some people and some of it is definitely not for children.

Q: Is there anything you’d like to say about The Emerging Filmmakers Project?

NF: I’m glad filmmakers have the chance to show their work and share ideas and tips to improve.

January 2015 Lineup: EFPalooza Film Festival!

The 2015 EFPalooza is a three-day film festival celebrating local independent film as The Emerging Filmmakers Project draws close to screening it’s 100BEST-OF-EFP (1)0th film since it began in 2002. The event will showcase the work of more than 40 local filmmakers, featuring favorites from the last 12 years as well as several EFP premieres.

Filmmakers will be in attendance to take part in a spirited ‘talkback’ with the audience. Hosted by The Emerging Filmmaker’s Project and The Bug Theatre, all proceeds from the event will go towards a great cause – improving the Bug Theatre, an incredible venue and a staple of the Denver independent film community.

Nancy Fingerhood head shotQ: Why did you become a filmmaker?
NF: I felt like I had some funny stories to tell and I enjoy the process of seeing an idea from my head come to life.

Q: What are we going to see at the EFP? Has it screened elsewhere and what are your plans for it?
NF: Middle Aged Women Gone Wild, a parody of girls gone wild. It screened at the Oriental Theatre on Open Screen Night and won first place. I would like it to go viral on YouTube!

Q: What else are you working on?
NF: A sitcom pitch for NBC for my show Mile High Nancy.

Q: Tell us one weird thing about you and/or your movies?
NF: My daughter gave me lice over a year ago and I shaved off all my hair and wore a wig.
